The parish of Saint Sophia has been an important part of Chicago's Orthodox community for more than 60 years. The parish is part of Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Diocese of the USA, Canada and Australia under the spiritual supervision of Metropolitan Joseph, seated in New York, a member of The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church Saint Sophia in Des Plaines, IL has been serving the community for over 60 years and is continuing to do so. The services and events are help on a regular schedule for all major feasts and every Sunday. Fr. Ivan Malinov holds a regular liturgical schedule, including Vespers on Saturday at 6PM and Divine Liturgy on Sundays at 10AM. He is also regularly available for baptisms, marriages, confessions, panahidas, and other sacraments. Fr. Ivan was officially installed as the Parish Priest on the Patron Feast of St. Sophia in 2025 by His Grace Bishop Clement of Levka, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph of the USA, Canada, and Australia. |
