The parish of Saint Sophia has been an important part of Chicago's Orthodox community for more than 60 years. The parish is part of Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Diocese of the USA, Canada and Australia under the spiritual supervision of Metropolitan Joseph, seated in New York, a member of The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church Saint Sophia in Des Plaines, IL has been serving the community for over 60 years and is continuing to do so. The services and events are help on a very regular schedule for all major feasts and every Sunday. Fr. Atanas holds a regular liturgical schedule in Bulgarian. Please join us for the Divine Liturgy on Sunday. It's a wonderful opportunity to also meet Fr. Atanas, who has served with us for several months and is in the process of becoming our permanent parish priest. |
